Can students learn from making engineering mistakes?
Mistakes are common when working through complicated engineering problems or designs. During one project, I considered do my engineering assignments, but working through the difficult parts myself helped me understand where my calculations had gone wrong. Checking each step taught me to be more careful with units and assumptions. I think mistakes can become useful lessons when students take time to understand them.
